CENERS-K (Centre for Eastern and North Eastern Regional Studies, Kolkata) is an independent, non-profit strategic think tank established in 2007. The Centre brings together scholars, researchers, and policy practitioners to examine issues of regional turbulence, development, peace, and security.
Its core focus lies on Eastern and North Eastern India, South Asia, South-East Asia, and the Indian Ocean region. Through research, seminars, dialogues, and publications, CENERS-K provides a platform for informed discussion on geo-politics, geo-economics, and regional strategy.

CENERS-K is a non-funded, not-for-profit, tax-exempt organisation registered as a Think Tank by NITI AAYOG and the Nett Assessment Cell. The Centre has organised several events related to Development, National and International Security Policy Analysis — including those focusing on energy, environment, ecology, global warming, and water security.
Foreign delegations from the USA, China, Japan, and ASEAN nations seek us out for round tables. Internationally, CENERS-K has MoUs with BIPPS in Bangladesh, Nova University in Slovenia, and exchange programmes with RSIS Singapore and Stimson Centre, Washington DC.

Over the years CENERS-K has organised itself in a manner that allows the think tank to conduct its affairs and research programmes in a manageable format, scheduled as calendar events from one AGM to the next.
- Economic Summit — Annual partnership with Chamber of Commerce to evaluate national budget and economic growth in North-Eastern India.
- Annual Dialogue — Signature seminar held yearly in partnership with the Indian Chamber of Commerce on India-China relations.
- Round Table Discussions — Three to four debates on contemporary events affecting our country and the North-Eastern region.
- R K Dutta Memorial Lecture — Annual lecture by a person of national stature on burning contemporary issues.
- Power of Collective Thought — Bringing together diverse perspectives from scholars, policy makers and defence practitioners.
- Power of Collective Expression — Publishing and disseminating rigorous research to inform public discourse.
- Independent Mind Bank — Remaining fiercely apolitical and autonomous in all analysis and recommendations.
All of Asia — with particular focus on South and South-East Asia, littoral countries of the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal; and within India, the Eastern, North-Eastern States and the UT of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
